Welcome to Art Alley in Ashland, KY

Take an insta-worthy walk down the brand new Art Alley in Downtown Ashland, KY! Completely citizen funded via online donations, the AKY Urban Art Projects group began transforming the alley between 15th and 16th Streets, between Winchester and Greenup Avenues, into a colorful and interactive art walk in early 2020. Formerly known as Quilt Alley, a Country Music Highway crazy quilt mural was first completed by Dustin York on a door on the back of the Ashland Visitors Center in approximately 2006.

aladdin’s art gallery

Long live all the magic we made, painted by The Tipton Creative in November 2023

Aladdin's Art Gallery wanted a mural that was eye-catching and cool, and would draw in new customers. During the design process, the mural at Aladdin's Art Gallery started with inspirations from art history and the park just a couple blocks down. The swirls, stars and lily pads were inspired by Van Gogh and Monet. The fish and daffodils were inspired by Central Park.

Owner, Mary, and the artist found out they were both big swifties, something just clicked. They added Taylor Swift easter eggs while staying true to the Aladdin's brand. This mural can be found at 728 13th Street, Ashland, KY 41101

Taylor Swift Easter Eggs

The moon and saturn is a nod to the song, seven! This song is close to me as it reminds me of growing up at my grandparents’ house.

The koi fish are from Taylor’s guitar in the Speak Now era, which she brought out in Kansas City when Taylor’s Version was released and she added Long Live to the set list.

My client, Mary at Aladdin's Art Gallery, went to the same Taylor concert as me this year, Cincinnati N2, where we got Ivy as a surprise song. You’ll see some Ivy hanging off of branches inspired by artist, Gustav Klimt.

Last not but least, this Easter egg is a little bit trickier. When Mary & I found out we’re both swifties, she told me Our Song was the first song she just fell in love with. I added red, orange and yellow flowers to reference the music video! They are also in the shape of poppies to reference The Great War.
